Hey I checked the Rhythm Web Jukebox, thats really hot!
I would love to post it on the jukebox along with a link to my iTunes page (I would prefer that others do not download the song, is that possible????)
Love to talk more about you helping me with my website(s), they need help, I am so busy:still do that???
let me know!
Thanks
Long speak, no time!
Great to re-connect...!
I have been so busy, touring, in the studio, etc. not much time for the web!!
How are you???
Still doing websites? Drumming on all things?
Hope all is well!
Thanks for the friend invite - love to be your friend!
Yes I am an Mountain Rythym gal - My husband Darren and I started the company 12 years ago and we now run it with his brother Ryan as well. I'm sure you met one or both of them at Pasic last year -I have been in baby land and have decided to embark on the DCF journey in order to help generate a more rhythmicaly active community for my daughter to grow up in - and I miss playing drums!!!
As I'm sure you know having kids can help to change your perspective and alos takes the fear out of most things or at least it gave me a bit more guts!
Are you heading to PASIC this year?
If so I will be taking Dave Hollands workshop on Sunday so are some others on this site I hear.
It will be a blast !
So thanks again for the invite - as a newbie it is really appreciated and keeps my fear at bay - LOL !!
Cheers,
Caryn
What I do know about them is that they have thick hide heads; the body is wood covered by a layer of plaster, a layer of skrim and another layer of plaster all covered with varnish that goes over the skin as well; the tension on the heads isn't tight enough to be a taiko as they have quite a lot of give in them; there are 4 loop handles so it was possibly suspended; they are oriental in design.
What I don't know is anything about their history; why they are covered in plaster; if they are genuine drums as opposed to stage props or something else.
The other thing I know is that they are wonderful fun to play, especially with a group of people - the big one takes 8 comfortably. But difficult to transpor and store!
Love Annie
is that a tabla type thing with the bendy bass note?
Yes thanks for the friend add... and Yeah, I'm glad you like the Tamburello vid. I actually just threw that out for a friend who was visiting from Hawaii. These days I have developed more refined chops on the instrument. If you are interested in getting one, I can hook you up with a maker in Italy.
I probably will be offering a 3-day course in frame drums specifically for DCFs in May, in southern Italy.
It will feature tamburellos, of course, but not necessarily virtuoso techniques, more basic 'what you can DCF with' , which is already a lot.
ANd, that is one freaky photo..!
will you be my friend? i'm inviting everyone - i think we should all be linked to each other, don't you? i hope to meet you some day - pasic, myrtle beach....?
peace to you, and thanks for your site! i go there a lot! have you made a hoola hoop shaker yet?
