My book is out, "A Practical Guide To Hand Drumming And Drum Circles"
This 6" x 9" paperback book is over 300 pages of text, and it's $17.95

Work is a little slow these days, so I finally got my book published. It only took me 8 years. LoL. It's jammed with practical information, suggestions, and ideas for people who love hand drumming, or who are interested in starting up a drum circle, or drumming program for their group.

The focus is on sharing as much information about hand drumming, and drum circles as possible. Facilitated, specialty, hosted, rhythmic drumming events, and even open freestyle drum circles. Everything from a rockin' drum circle - to a healing drum circle, plus the many different ways to approach them. I discuss how to go about building a drumming program in many of the specialty areas.

Visit my site drumcircles.net for more info on that, as well as my 2 hour DVD, "101 Drum Circle Rhythms". A free drum circle CD is included with purchase. It's $15. Such a deal! Thanks
Your most fantastic drumcircle experience to date.
The Earth Day Celebration Drum Circle. We had a special needs group up on the big stage mixed with a big group of locals from the weekly drum circle. Nobody in the crowd knew it, and they got to just be percieved as one of the gang, and not treated as "special". They smiled and beamed as we all played proudly for 2 hours in front of a huge crowd. The applause at the end was so immense we all felt like rock stars. Earth day was one of the greatest moments of my life. I still can see the joy and pride on all the drummers faces.

The Jazz festival drum circle was a close second. A bunch of the jazz fest members joined in on the drum circle. I can't even describe how cool that sounded. One by one the band members drifted into the drum circle and just jammed with us. Fantastic!

Hello Shannon, thanks for the invite, we are now friends :) All the more exciting since I am in Florida too, up here in the "Big Bend." I am not always on this site so you can always email me at unitybeat@yahoo.com. PS I have enjoyed your website & resources too, thanks.

Hi Shannon,
Wow, nice to hear your digging those new Djembes! They really are a completely new drum from top to bottom and the sound is impeccable, I am so pleased you like them, I really dig them because of the sound and lightweight-easy on my back!

Looks like you have a great collection!

Hi Shannon, I bought the drum on ebay from someone who had no idea what it was - she came with her little brother who is only 25 inches diameter as opposed to her 39. I'm not sure what it is. It hasn't got the 5:4 ratio that I think is typical of taiko drums and the tension on the skin is a bit soft. the construction seems strange to me as it seems to be wood covered with plaster and fabric. Whatever it is or isn't ....it makes a wonderful sound especially if you get a group playing it.
